Tyrik Haynes, 22, was located by state Human Services police officers, Ewing police posted on social media.

EWING -- The Trenton Psychiatric Hospital patient who escaped the facility Saturday has been located, Ewing police said Sunday evening.

Tyrik Haynes, 22, was located by state Human Services police officers, Ewing police posted on social media at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

"Due to the ongoing investigation by Human Services Police, they did not provide much more information other than the fact that he was located outside of Ewing Township," the Ewing announcement said.

Ewing police alerted the public about Haynes' escape late Saturday with a post on the township's website that said he should be considered "dangerous."

he had last been seen on the grounds of the hospital, the alert added.

Middletown police confirmed earlier Sunday that Haynes was the suspect they arrested in January 2013 on charges he tried to kill a woman inside the Bed Bath & Beyond on Route 35 in Middletown.

Haynes, then 19, and from Middletown, allegedly stabbed a 29-year-old Keansburg woman a dozen times as she pushed a child in a stroller, critically injuring her.

He was indicted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office as Tarik Haynes on first-degree attempted murder and related weapon charges.

The state Department of Human Services, which runs the hospital, declined to make public any information about the incident while the person was on the loose, citing medical privacy laws.
