Police urge anyone who sees the man to call 9-1-1
UPDATE: Escaped psychiatric hospital patient found, police say
EWING -- Authorities were searching Saturday for a man who escaped from the Trenton Psychiatric Hospital and was considered dangerous, according to an alert from Ewing police.
Tyrik Haynes, 22, was described as 6-feet tall black male, 265 pounds, and last seen wearing a t-shirt and grey sweat pants, the police department's alert said. Haynes was last spotted on the grounds of the hospital, the alert added.
"This individual should be considered dangerous, and if seen please call 911 immediately," an alert on the township's website said.
Several Facebook users also shared the police department's alert beginning around 9 p.m. Saturday.
Local police referred questions to the state Department of Human Services police. A Human Services spokeswoman, Nicole Brossoie, said she could not release information due to medical privacy laws.
"Any situation involving a patient leaving the hospital campus without permission would be shared with local police," Brossoie said in an email late Saturday.
Authorities could not be immediately reached for further details late Saturday.
