Princeton University will hold a full day in October to honor famed mathematician John Nash after his death in May.

PRINCETON - Princeton University announced Friday a day of academic panels and remembrance to honor mathematician and "A Beautiful Mind" inspiration John Forbes Nash Jr., who died along with his wife Alicia in taxi crash in May.

The event includes a series of academic panels Oct. 24 in honor of Forbes, a Nobel Prize winner in economics. In the evening, Nash's family members and former colleagues will gather at University Chapel to remember the man and his long connection to the University.

Nash was 86 when he and his wife, Alicia Nash, were killed in a car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in May. They were returning home to Princeton Junction when their taxi crashed against a guardrail and they were thrown from the vehicle. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Nash's death was a loss for the academic community - he won a Nobel Prize in 1994 and his life was detailed in the Oscar-winning movie "A Beautiful Mind" in 2001.

Nash received his doctorate in Mathematics from Princeton University in 1950 and returned to the school in 1995 where he worked as a senior research mathematician until his death, according to the release.

The Oct. 24 remembrance includes a public lecture at 4:30 p.m. by Sylvia Nasar who wrote "A Beautiful Mind: The Life of Mathematical Genius and Nobel Laureate John Nash."

The service will be held at 6 p.m. at University Chapel and the university is trying to make arrangements to broadcast some of the events over the Internet.
