Anthony Samuels was arrested after he and another suspect allegedly stole Chinese food from a delivery man.

TRENTON -- A Trenton man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a deliveryman that occurred in late May.

Police arrived at Thompson Street at 3:30 p.m. on May 27 on a call from a Food King Chinese deliveryman reporting he's been held up at gunpoint, police spokesman Lt. Rolando Ramos said.

The victim, a 41-year-old Hamilton resident, told officers that two large men, one later identified as Anthony Samuels, 23, approached his car, Ramos said.

One of the men allegedly walked up to the driver's side with a gun in hand and demanded the victim turn over money.

Ramos said the second robber grabbed the Chinese food from the passenger side, at which point the victim drove away and called the police.

After the incident, officers found two men eating Chinese food from plain containers on the front porch of a house on the 300 block of Monmouth Street, Ramos said.

The officers detained the men, but the victim could not identify them at that point, so police let them go, Ramos said.

After further investigation, detectives were able to identify Samuels as one of the suspects and arrested him Thursday at 9 a.m. on Monmouth Street.

Samuels is charged with robbery and weapon offenses.

The crime is still under investigation.
