ROBBINSVILLE -- Two teenage girls were robbed at gunpoint in a wooded area off Line Road near the Hamilton border Thursday evening, police said.
The girls, ages 17 and 16, told officers that a masked man held them up at gunpoint in a wooded area near the cul-de-sac at the end of Line Road at about 4:45 p.m.
The teens said robber pointed a small black handgun at the girls and took their purses, police said.
The girls were not injured in the confrontation.
The robber was last running west on Flock Road into Hamilton, police said.
Robbinsville officers, joined by K-9 officers from Hamilton and West Windsor, searched the area but were unable to locate any suspects. A New Jersey State Police helicopter also responded to the search.
The robber is was described as a black male, 6-feet tall who wore black sweatpants, a black hoodie and white bandana over his face.
