The impact of the crash caused the truck to overturn, trapping the 95-year-old passenger for a half-hour

The crash occurred around noon at the intersection of Route 579 and Pleasant Valley Road.

Kenneth Baker, 65, of Pennington, was traveling south on Route 579 with his 95-year-old mother, Eleanor. As he passed through the intersection, a Hyundai Santa Fe driven by 17-year-old Derek G. Deana-Roga II was traveling eastbound on Pleasant Valley Road and failed to stop at the stop sign, Lt. Chris Kascik said.

Deana-Roga struck Baker's Ford F350, causing it to overturn on its side, he said.

Eleanor Baker was trapped and had to be extricated by first responders. Both she and her son were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Kascik said.

Deana-Roga, who lives in Hopewell Township, was cited for failing to stop at a traffic signal and careless driving.

The crash remains under investigation by Officer Mark Panzano.

Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, West Trenton Fire Company, Pennington Fire Company, Pennington First Aid Squad and paramedics from Capital Health responded to the scene.
