JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST -- A Pennsylvania Army National Guard unit will be firing mortars during training that starts today and continues into Tuesday, the joint base announced.
Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 111th Infantry Regiment will be training during daylight and evening hours with 120 mm mortars from June 10 to 14, the announcement said.
During the training, the joint base community and residents of the surrounding areas may experience moderate ground shaking and noise coming from the ranges.
The noise may travel farther during overcast weather conditions.
The base expressed in a statement its appreciation for the patience and support of its surrounding communities as it continues "to ensure the readiness of America's fight force."
