Trenton resident Tom M. Emmanuel has been charged after allegedly attempting to elude police in a chase on June 4.
HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP -- The injured motorcyclist who crashed his bike during a police pursuit this weekend on Harbourton-Rocktown Road has been charged in connection with the incident, police said.
Trenton resident Tom M. Emmanuel, 21, has been charged with eluding police, speeding, passing over a double yellow line, reckless driving, driving without a motorcycle endorsement and failure to display a license plate.
He remains hospitalized, police said Monday.
Police said Saturday they arrested Raimy D. Valdez, 21, of Morrisville, Pa., when they found him uninjured at the crash scene.
Valdez was charged with eluding police, speeding, passing over a double yellow line and reckless driving.
Emmanuel and Valdez were allegedly in a group of four motorcyclists who were were traveling northbound on Bear Tavern Road near Pennington-Titusville Road at 66 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone when they passed Officer Mark Panzano.
When Panzano turned around and attempted to stop them by activating his emergency lights and siren, police said, the motorcyclists increased their speed.
Police said Panzano lost sight of the motorcycles where Bear Tavern Road turns into Harbourton-Rocktown Road, before finding two of the motorcycles crashed just south of the Harbourton-Mount Airy Road intersection.
Panzano stopped to tend to the crashed riders. The other two motorcyclists did not stop, police said.
Hopewell Township police said the case will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office for review.
