TRENTON -- Two people were shot and one stabbed during a violent weekend in Trenton, police said.

A 37-year-old city man underwent surgery in critical condition early Sunday after being stabbed on Southard Street, Trenton Police Lt. Stephen Varn said.

Police found him bleeding heavily from a stab wound to the abdomen at about 2:44 a.m., Varn said. He was rushed to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

He was recovering from surgery Sunday, Varn said.

Two men were also shot Saturday night in separate incidents in Trenton. One man was shot twice just before midnight on Hermitage Avenue, Varn said.

The man was shot in the arm and torso. He underwent surgery and came out in stable condition, Varn said.

Another man was shot at about 10:57 p.m. on Wood Street, Varn said. He was treated at Capital Health Regional Medical Center for a single gunshot wound to the leg.

The man told police he was walking in the area, heard a gunshot and suddenly felt a burning sensation.

Trenton Police are continuing to investigate all three incidents, Varn said.
