6 Diocese of Trenton deacons to become priests

The priesthood will welcome six new members at St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral.

TRENTON -- The priesthood will welcome six new members Saturday at the St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral in Trenton, the Trenton diocese announced.

The Mass of ordination for deacons Gregg Abadilla, Christopher Colavito, Augusto Gamalo, Richard Osborn, John Patilla and Daniel Price will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4.

Trenton Bishop David M. O'Connell will be elevating the deacons to their new status.

The new priests are:

* Gregg Abadilla, 29, was born in Mabini, Jovellar Albay, Philippines. Abadilla moved to the United States in 2009 and earned a bachelor's degree in humanities from St. Mary Seminary and University, Baltimore, in 2011.

* Christopher Colavito, 37, was born in New Brunswick and grew up in Toms River. Before entering St. Mary Seminary and University, he worked as a consultant for several state political campaigns and served as an assistant to a commissioner with the New Jersey Casino Control Commission and in the Manahawkin office of the state Department of Motor Vehicles.

* Augusto Gamalo, 28, was born in Tacloban City Philippines. He pursued his seminary studies in St. Mary Seminary and University where he received his master's degree in divinity.

* Richard Osborn, 28, was born in Long Branch and his home parish is St. Jerome Parish, West Long Branch. He will be receiving his master of divinity degree from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary.

* John Patilla, 27, was born and raised in the Philippines.In 2011, he began studies in St. Mary Seminary and University in pursuit of bachelor of sacred theology and master of divinity degrees.

* Daniel Price, 44, was born in Traverse City, Michigan. Price explored a number of careers after college: in the banking industry as a teller and operations clerk; a life insurance salesman; a long-distance tractor trailer driver who drove between Pennsylvania and Florida, and a delivery driver of medical and industrial gas.

The ceremony will be live streamed on the homepage of dioceseoftrenton.org.
