May 29 Letters to the Editor
Twenty years ago, May 1996, the Hamilton Township Patriotic Committee (HTPC) was established. The HTPC is a 501(c)3 organization exclusively for the promotion and furtherance of patriotism within Hamilton Township. Our mission statement is to create and foster an awareness of our American heritage by honoring and perpetuating the memory of those patriots who have distinguished themselves by their service and sacrifices while members of the armed forces of the United States.
Since the beginning, the HTPC has worked to acquire various military displays located at the four main entrances to Veterans Park at no cost to the township. In addition, we installed post signs to the main walkways in Veterans Park and placed a portrait of George Washington in every school in Hamilton Township. The HTPC also obtained two old mail boxes which were repurposed as drop-off locations for old and tattered flags.
We are currently planning two additional memorials, United States Coast Guard and Merchant Marines, to be located along with the Navy Memorial at the west entrance of Veterans Park.
At our twenty year anniversary, I would like to thank our members, past and present, for all their efforts and give thanks to our veterans that served bravely and sacrificed much.
U.S. Colonel Robert E. Watson
Hamilton Township Patriotic Committee president
As a new member of the Hamilton Township Economic Development Advisory Commission, I would like to commend all of the dedicated commission members who helped to make our recent Hamilton Job Fair and Business Expo a success.
Thanks to this recent initiative, coordinated together with Mayor Kelly Yaede and the Hamilton Township Department of Technology and Economic Development, we were able to help connect residents seeking new job opportunities with many local employers. Several of these employers have chosen to locate in our community thanks to our location, transportation infrastructure and robust local economy.
Additionally, thanks to the help of Hamilton's Special Needs Commission, the recent Hamilton Job Fair assisted our fellow residents with special needs in helping them to meet with employers onsite. By doing so, it allowed our special needs residents to participate in the job fair in an inclusive manner along with our entire community.
I want to congratulate the entire Economic Development Advisory Commission on a job well done and look forward to working with the membership on other initiatives that support our local economy and our residents.
David Walsh
Hamilton Township Economic Development Advisory Commission member
