TRENTON - A Trenton woman and two unknown men fought off a man who was trying to steal the woman's stroller - with a 2-month-old baby seated inside - after he exposed himself to her and her children, police said.
The incident happened near the intersection of Hoffman Avenue and Oakland Street around 6 p.m., Lt. Stephen Varn said.
The woman was walking with her two children - a 2-year-old and the 2-month-old -- when a man, later identified as 42-year-old William Clayborne, exposed himself to the woman and her kids, Varn said.
The woman tried to walk away when Clayborne grabbed the stroller and tried to flee. Two unknown men in the area came to the woman's aid and fended off Clayborne, who suffered several head wounds in the incident, Varn said.
Clayborne struggled with officers who arrived a short time later, Varn said.
Clayborne was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton where he was treated for his injuries, Varn said.
Clayborne was charged with lewdness, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest and obstruction, Varn said.
Clayborne's bail information was not immediately available.
