The fire was called in around 11 a.m. and sent smoke throughout the dorm at Westminster Choir College
PRINCETON - A fire in a bathroom at Rider University's Westminster Choir College Wednesday sent plumes of smoke throughout the school dorm Wednesday morning, officials said.
The fire was reported at 11 a.m. at college dorm on the 100 block of Walnut Lane in Princeton.
Firefighters arrived and discovered a fire in a first floor bathroom, according to Bob Gregory, Director of Emergency Management in Princeton.
Gregory said the fire was contained to the bathroom but that smoke had reached the first and second floors of the building.
Firefighters had the flames under control by 11:40 p.m., Gregory said. He said nobody was injured during the incident.
A statement from Princeton police later said no one was in the building at the time of the fire and the dorm did not need to be evacuated.

Kristine Brown, a spokeswoman for Rider University said the building was a student dorm called Dayton. She said most students have been moved out of campus since the end of the school year in mid-May.
The university initially cut power to the dorm when the fire was called in but the utility has since been restored, Brown said.
Firefighters were still investigating the cause of the fire early Wednesday afternoon. Brown said the university did not yet know the extent of the damage or the repairs that would be necessary.
