Two Trenton men were charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses after attacking a man who was trying to get into a cab
TRENTON - Two Trenton men were arrested and charged with assault and robbery after punching one man and pointing a gun at another, police said Monday.
Jorge Armstrong, 26, and Pedro Berreto, 23, were charged with aggravated assault, weapons offenses and robbery for an incident around 11 p.m. Saturday, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
When a 35-year-old man was getting into a taxicab on the 300 block of Emory Avenue, Armstrong grabbed the door and started going through the man's pockets. Armstrong also punched the man in the face, knocking him unconscious, Varn said.
The taxi driver told Armstrong to stop and Armstrong pointed a handgun at him. The 20-year-old driver pulled the victim into the cab and drove off, Varn said.
The driver called 911 and kept Armstrong and Berreto in sight and he was able to point officers to where they were, Varn said.
Armstrong's bail was set at $150,000. Berreto's bail was set at $50,0000, according to police records.
