Terrence Miller and Jermaine Lofland are accused of shooting at each other and hitting a car in a dispute over a vehicle

TRENTON - Two men accused of shooting at each other in an argument over a vehicle last month appeared in court for the first time this week.

Terrence Miller, 47, and Jermaine Lofland, 34, appeared for bail hearings Tuesday morning in connection with April 27 shooting.

Both men face a charge of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm.

Lofland's bail was maintained at $100,000 Tuesday while Miller's was reduced to $75,000, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office.

Trenton police said the men were firing shots at each other on the 100 block of Locust Street because of a dispute over a vehicle.

In the midst of the shots, the men hit a car - though not the one they were fighting over, Trenton Police Lt. Stephen Varn said.

Police arrived at the scene just before 11 p.m. that day and found a car with a shattered window. Witnesses at the scene said shooters fled on foot.

Lofland turned himself in to police the next day. Miller turned himself in a few days later.
