PLAINSBORO -- A former patient care technician at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro has been indicted on charges he sexually assaulted two incapacitated patients under his supervision.
Richard Smith, of Princeton, faces charges of first-degree aggravated sexual assault on both women.
Smith was also indicted Friday on charges of aggravated criminal sexual contact, and criminal sexual contact in each incident.
Smith is accused of sexually assaulting one of the patients in November while supervising her at the hospital in Plainsboro, the indictment said.
Smith lifted the hospital gown of a 25-year-old woman while she was incapacitated and molested her, prosecutors have said. Hospital officials called police after being notified of the Nov. 17 sexual assault and Smith was arrested, prosecutors have said.
He had started working at the hospital in May 2015.
The other patient was sexually assaulted in April 2013 while Smith was working at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton, according to the indictment.
Smith had also previously worked at a private medical practice in Princeton, authorities have said.
