Albert Carmichael was charged with assault by auto in the crash that hospitalized himself and a woman passenger
TRENTON - A Trenton man was charged with assault in a crash that injured a woman passenger last month, police said.
Albert Carmichael, 21, was arrested and charged Monday with assault by auto in an April 6 crash on Route 29 that hospitalized him and a woman passenger, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
The two were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton after their car left northbound Route 29 and crashed sideways into a utility pole near Sullivan Way around 11 p.m., police have said.
Carmichael, the driver, suffered a cerebral contusion and facial, femur and pelvic fractures. The passenger, also 21, suffered a fractured skull, a brain bleed and a facial fracture, police have said.
Excessive speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash, police have said.
