HAMILTON - A 54-year-old tractor trailer driver had to be cut from his rig Thursday afternoon when it tipped on its side exiting Interstate 195, the state police said.

The driver, who was not immediately identified, was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton following the 1:40 p.m. crash. He suffered non life-threatening injuries.

The truck was exiting the interstate westbound to head south on Route 130.

The driver was driving too fast for the cloverleaf exit and the load in the trailer shifted, toppling the vehicle, the state police in Hamilton said.

Robbinsville and Hamilton firefighters cut the windshield off the truck's cab to free the driver.

The accident caused the ramp's closure for several hours, and a detour on the interstate at exit 5.

The wreck had been cleared as of 5 p.m. and all lanes reopened, the state police said.
