The elevated levels were detected at the Wilson, Klockner, Lalor, Mercerville and Kisthardt schools.

HAMILTON -- Test results at five Hamilton schools show higher than acceptable levels for lead in drinking water, the district said.

The elevated levels were detected at drinking water fountains or faucets at the Wilson, Klockner, Lalor and Mercerville elementary schools.

And levels at Kisthardt elementary originally reported as acceptable show elevated lead levels in the final tests results, the district said in a statement.

The complete results from the district:

Wilson: Four drinking fountains/faucets have been shut off pending a second testing and written report. The district will assess the need for water coolers to augment the remaining fountains and faucets still available.

Klockner: One drinking fountain has been shut off pending the results of a second testing and written report.

Lalor: Two drinking fountains/faucets have been shut off pending results of a second testing and written report. The district will assess the need for water coolers.

Mercerville: Two affected drinking fountains/faucets have been shut off pending a second testing and written report. The district will assess the need for water coolers for the school.

Kisthardt: The statement said their contracted water tester, Karl and Associates, initially reported that all tests show lead at acceptable levels. A final lab report shows six water fountains tested at or above acceptable levels levels and have been shut down. The district has arranged for the delivery of water coolers.

Previously, the district has said all drinking fountains and faucets were shut off at Morgan elementary pending a second test and final report. And at Greenwood elementary, water was shut off to one water fountain that tested above the acceptable lead levels, pending a second test.

At Sayen elementary, all of the water sources tested safe.
