Francisco Reyes-Martinez, 34, flagged down an officer at Chambers and Hamilton Streets around 4:30 a.m. Thursday and told police that a woman had just taken money from his wallet and ran off, Lt. Stephen Varn said.

Officers found the woman, Shannon Murphy, 30, on the 100 block of Butler Street.

She had a different story.

According to Murphy, Reyes-Martinez picked her up on Whittaker Avenue and the two had an agreement to exchange $25 for sex, but after, Reyes-Martinez refused to pay.

That's when she took his wallet and removed $25, Varn said.

Murphy told officers that Reyes-Martinez, kicked her out of the car and did not allow her to collect her purse or her underwear, Varn said.

Reyes-Martinez was charged with engaging in prostitution. Murphy was charged with engaging in prostitution and an outstanding warrant, according to police records.
