RWJ Hamilton announces annual Strides for Stroke run, walk

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton announced its 25th Annual Strides for Stroke 5K Run and 2K Walk will be held Saturday May 14.

HAMILTON -- On your mark, get set, raise money!

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton announced its 25th Annual Strides for Stroke 5K Run and 2K Walk will be held Saturday May 14.

"This year's 25th anniversary race, sponsored by Sean's Landscaping and Care One Management, benefits the award-winning stroke program at RWJ Hamilton," the hospital said.

RWJ Hamilton said its Primary Stroke Center is a 24-hour, full-service program focused on "acute stroke care, rehabilitation, support and education."

To register online as a team or individual for the races, visit raceforum.com/stridesforstroke. All proceeds go to the Primary Stroke Center at RWJ Hamilton.

RWJ Hamilton said on its registration website, their fundraising goal for the event is $4,550.

The hospital said registration for the races begin at 7:30 a.m. The various walks and runs will start to commence at 9 a.m.

RWJ Hamilton said in addition to the races, the event will feature t-shirt giveaways, food, music and kids' sprints.

"Strides for strokes offers family fun for all ages," RWJ Hamilton said.

The hospital said the race will begin on the RWJ Hamilton campus, wind through Veterans Park and loop back to the hospital where the finish line is.

Awards for first, second and third place runners in the various age groups will be given out at 10:30 a.m. after all the races are complete.
