TRENTON -- A 16-year-old girl was in critical condition at a Trenton hospital Sunday night after being shot in the head in the city's South Ward Sunday evening, police said.
The girl was in a minivan at the intersection of Jersey Street and Home Avenue when she was wounded at about 6:25 p.m., police said. Other people were in the vehicle, but were not wounded.
Detectives from the Trenton police and Mercer County Prosecutor's Office are investigating.
No other information about the incident was available Sunday night. A police spokesman said the investigation was in its early phases and investigators were still on scene.
Pictures on the Facebook page On Scene News showed a minivan with Pennsylvania license plates with its back window shattered at a nearby South Ward intersection.
