Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton announced new additions to the Lakefront Gallery art exhibit to debut April 18.
HAMILTON -- Works by several local artists are now on display through June 24 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton's Lakefront Gallery.
"The Trenton Artists Workshop Invitational Art Exhibit" opened April 18, RWJ Hamilton announced, and they are inviting the public to view the exhibit for free at a formal unveiling April 28.
The event will be held at the RWJ Hamilton Lakefront Gallery from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., RWJ Hamilton said.
"The exhibition features work of local artists in coordination with the Trenton Artists' Workshop Association Inc. (TAWA)," RWJ Hamilton said in an announcement.
"This nonprofit organization was founded in 1979 by Latta Patterson and Dr. Mary Tatum Howard (and friends) to promote the arts in the greater Trenton area," the announcement said.
The hospital said since 1979 more than 350 "professional artists, art educators, art students and patrons of the arts" have joined the TAWA.
RWJ Hamilton also said TAWA has organized several Trenton festivals which brought local musicians, writers and theater artists to the city. It also helped create Trenton's first professional theater - Passage Theatre Company at the Mill Hill Playhouse.
The Lakefront Gallery is located on the first floor of the hospital and was opened in 2013 in collaboration with the Princeton Photography Club, RWJ Hamilton said.
"The Lakefront gallery brings original photographic art to the walls of the hospital, enriching the patient and visitor experience and providing additional creative exposure for local artists," RWJ Hamilton said.
