Jermaine McCain, 36, of Kirkbride Avenue, was apprehended Tuesday following a high-speed chase throughout Bucks County, Pa.

TRENTON - Authorities have arrested a 36-year-old Trenton man on charges he called in a fake bomb threat at the Mercer County Criminal Courthouse last week, officials said.

Jermaine McCain, of Kirkbride Avenue, was apprehended Tuesday following a high-speed chase throughout Bucks County, Pa. that included crashes in Bensalem and Penndel, where it ended.

Last Thursday, McCain allegedly dialed 911 in Trenton and threatened to detonate an explosive at the courthouse, Mercer County Sheriff's spokesman Ernest Cerino Jr. said in release.

A detective familiar with the incident said the suspect later told police he was not up to going to court that day, because he "had things to do."

It was unknown what business McCain had at the courthouse.

Sheriff's investigators later linked the fake threat to McCain and found he was evading law enforcement, Cerino said.

On Tuesday, officers from the sheriff's office fugitive unit and the U.S. Marshals' NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, Trenton office located McCain in Bucks County, and a chase ensued.

Authorities in Bucks County told Levittownnow.com that Mercer County officers and federal agents pursued a man driving a Lexus from Bensalem to Route 1 in Middletown and onto West Lincoln Highway before crashing at the corner of West Lincoln Highway and Hulmeville Avenue in Penndel at 4:15 p.m.

The Levittown news site also posted pictures of damaged vehicles, including a police vehicle.

McCain was charged with making a false public alarm and placing a 911 call without actual emergency in Mercer County, Cerino said.

He is currently being held at the Bucks County Jail in Doylestown, Pa. on $50,000 bail for a flight from justice charge. He faces additional criminal charges from Bensalem police as well, Cerino said.
