Virgil R. Howard, 26, was charged in April 8 shooting of Elliott Simon
TRENTON - A Willingboro man was arrested and charged with murder in the April 8 shooting death of Elliot Simon, of Trenton, police said.
Virgil R. Howard, 26, was arrested by federal marshals in a motel room in Bristol, Pa., on Monday and charged with Simon's death, acting Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri said.
Howard was charged with murder, felony murder, robbery and weapons charges. His bail was set at $1 million.
Trenton police responding to a ShotSpotter gunfire detection alert at about 9:10 p.m. found Simon, 52, on North Hermitage Avenue, a few houses from where he lives. He died at a Trenton hospital about an hour later.
Three years ago, Simon's 19-year-old daughter, Tierra Green, was shot and killed in Trenton.
The teen was standing in a group of about 30 people when a man started firing at the group, killing her. Alton Jones, 22, was later charged with the crime.
