Elliot Simon Jr. turned 52 Thursday and lived in the 100 block of Boudinot Street.
TRENTON -- Authorities identified the man killed in Trenton Friday night as Elliot Simon Jr., a resident of the block where police found him shot multiple times.
Simon turned 52 years old on Thursday and lived in the 100 block of Boudinot Street, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said Saturday.
Trenton police responding to a ShotSpotter gunfire detection alert at about 9:10 p.m. Friday found Simon on the street a few houses from where he lives, the prosecutor's office said.
Simon died at Capital Health Medical Center in Trenton about an hour later.
The Mercer County Homicide Task Force is investigating.
The killing followed a week of nonfatal shootings in the city that as of Wednesday evening had wounded eight people in seven incidents in different areas of the city.
It also followed a two-month period of no homicides. After three men were killed in shootings in January, the city had no killings in February and March.
