Undercover police bought firearms including at least one assault rifle from the man, prosecutors said

TRENTON - A Plainsboro man was arrested recently after he allegedly sold firearms to undercover police officers in Trenton, a Mercer County prosecutor said.

Anthony Gaylord, 35, of Tamarron Drive in Plainsboro, was charged last week with weapons possession charges after the undercover investigation led police to Gaylord's home, where they found several firearms, authorities said. The New Jersey State Police made the arrest.

At a bail hearing for Gaylord Thursday in Mercer County Superior Court, prosecutors released few details on the investigation that led to the charges.

Police had purchased firearms - including at least one assault rifle - from Gaylord on two separate occasions, Mercer County Assistant Prosecutor Tim Ward said.

At least one of those times was in early February, Ward said.

A judge lowered Gaylord's bail from $750,000 to $75,000 at the hearing Thursday.

Gaylord was arrested at his home on March 30 and charged with unlawful possession of an assault rifle, a handgun, high capacity magazines and improper transport of a weapon, according to police records.

Gaylord is a convicted felon who's been arrested on assault, theft, weapons and drug charges in the past.
