Two shot in head in recent spate of Trenton shootings

Two people were in critical condition Wednesday after they were shot while sitting in a parked car, police said

TRENTON - In the latest in a recent spate of shootings, two people were shot in the head while in a parked car in the city's North Ward early Wednesday, police said.

A man and a woman whose ages were unavailable Wednesday, were critically injured in the 4:30 a.m. shooting on the first block of Sweets Avenue, Lt. Stephen Varn said.

The pair were found in a parked car by police responding to a report of gunfire in the area. They were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton in critical condition and later transferred to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, Varn said.

Their conditions were unavailable Wednesday.

The shooting response team is investigating. There were no suspect descriptions, nor motive for the shooting, Varn said.

The shooting is the fifth in the city in less than a week.

4 hospitalized in separate Trenton shootings in 4 days

A 26-year-old man was hospitalized at Capital Health Regional after he was hit in the temple by a gunshot around 5 p.m. on the 200 block of Spring Street Thursday.

The man underwent emergency surgery and was in critical condition. Police said two men might be involved, but their descriptions were incomplete.

21-year-old man was shot numerous times in the legs and torso on the 1100 block of East State Street around 9:45 p.m. Friday.

No suspects were identified and no arrests were made, police said. 

Police continue to search for two suspects who may be responsible for the shooting of a 15-year-old boy around 3:30 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Chestnut Avenue and Elm Street.

The teen was walking in the area when two men emerged from a nearby park and began shooting, police have said.

A 49-year-old man had just parked his car near the intersection of Jersey 
Street and Home Avenue shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday and he was walking toward a house when he heard gunshots and realized he was hit, Varn has said.

The man was shot in the left arm and the lower back. He was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton where he was listed in stable condition, Varn has said.
