TRENTON -- Two on-duty Trenton police sergeants had their dinner paid for Sunday night by a diner customer, who left the officers a handwritten note with a smiley face.
Sgts. Jay Astbury and Marshall Rivera found out their check was paid when they went to pay for their meal at the Route 1 Diner, the department posted on Facebook.
The anonymous customer left a note, which said: "Thank You for the work that you do" and included a smiley face.
"The officers of the Trenton, New Jersey Police Department would like to express our gratitude for this act of kindness and the privilege and honor to serve you," the Facebook post said.
Last month, four Cherry Hill police officers eating lunch in Baltimore following a police funeral in Maryland had their bill paid by a Lindenwold family, who they ran into at
The family told the officers to be safe and have a good day when they left, but it wasn't until they walked out that the officers were told the family had paid for their bill, writing "God bless you fellas!" on their receipt.
