Anthony Gaylord, 35, of Tamarron Drive, was arrested at his home Wednesday evening by New Jersey State Police troopers.

PLAINSBORO -- A township man has been charged with numerous weapon possession charges in connection with several firearms found in his home, police said.

Anthony Gaylord, 35, of Tamarron Drive, was arrested at his home Wednesday evening by New Jersey State Police troopers, records show.

Gaylord was booked at the Trenton police headquarters later that night and held on $750,000 bail.

It was unclear Thursday why Gaylord was processed in Trenton, city police said, but several trooper units work regularly in the city, the department said.

The state police did not immediately provide further details of the arrest.

The arrest does appear to be part of an ongoing investigation, Trenton police said, as troopers found numerous firearms in Gaylord's residence.

Gaylord is charged with counts of unlawful possession of an assault rifle, a handgun, high capacity magazines and improper transport of a weapon, Trenton police records show.

A former Princeton resident, Gaylord is a convicted felon with prior convictions for assault, theft, weapon possession and heroin possession, records show.

Some of his convictions come from separate hold-ups of people in downtown Princeton in 2010 and 2001, records and news accounts show.
