JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST -- The joint base and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are teaming up once again with a career event for veterans and service members.
The two-day event, April 7 and 8, will feature about 200 local, regional and national companies looking to network with members of the military, veterans and military spouses, the organizations said in an announcement.
Organizers say is not just a career fair, but will feature seminars, guest speakers and panel discussions as well.
The aim is to match veterans or transitioning military members - and their family members - with private-sector employers.
Jointing local and regional employers will be representatives from companies like Verizon, Prudential and Lockheed Martin.
U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Commander Major General Frederick Martin and Lt. Gov. Guadagno will speak at the event and Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) will welcome veterans via video address.
The event is free but job seekers are urged to register online at hiringourheroes.org. Anyone with registration questions is asked to contact the chamber at 202-463-5807 or transitionsummits@uschamber.com.
