Piccolo Pronto inside TCNJ's Campus Town is celebrating its grand opening Wednesday

EWING -- Order a personal pizza pie at Piccolo Pronto Wednesday and you can pay what you want -- $2.25, $5 or $10, the regular retail price for the 10-inch pie.

The fast-casual restaurant, which features customized pizzas, pastas, salads and sandwiches, opened in January in The College of New Jersey's Campus Town, but is celebrating its grand opening Wednesday by donating 100 percent of its pizza sales to charity.

Owners Amali and Fami Elabed are giving away free pizza in hopes that people will donate money -- however much they can -- to the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.

The cost of one meal at TASK is $2.25, Amali Elabed said.

"That's what Piccolo Pronto was founded on, giving back and empowering the community as a whole," she said.

The husband-and-wife team started the nonprofit Piccolo Family Foundation and launched the "Feed the Knead" campaign, which donates 10 percent of the restaurant's annual profits to charity.

"We want to leave a positive influence in all who come into contact with us," Elabed said. "When people come in, we want them to feel good about eating good food and giving back at the same time."

The event runs from noon to 9 p.m. WPST 94.5 and New Jersey 101.5 will be part of the day-long entertainment.

Piccolo Pronto is located at 100 Campus Town Circle, Suite 101 in Ewing.
