The McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton announced open auditions for a part in the 2016 annual of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" will run until April 9.
PRINCETON -- The McCarter Theatre in Princeton is holding open auditions for its annual performance of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol."
The theater said it's the first year McCarter will depict the "reimagined version" of the classic play and the first time they are calling for local actors to "bring the story to life alongside a company of professional performers."
"This diverse and enthusiastic group will fill the streets of London, dance with the Fezziwigs, carol at Scrooge's doorsteps and bring Christmas cheer to every corner of the theater," the theater said in an announcement.
The theater said there are 50 parts in the community ensemble that local actors can audition for at locations in Mercer County.
"McCarter is searching for a wide cross-section of the diverse and talented community that surrounds us, creating opportunities for performers of all ages, genders, races and levels of ability and experience to become a part of this community ensemble," the theater said.
McCarter Theater said at each "casting information session," staff will introduce actors to play members, talk about the auditions, play theater games and answer questions.
