The Auxiliary of Robert Wood Johnson Hamilton announced they raised $14,000 in 2015 to help complete the construction of the pediatric emergency center.
HAMILTON -- The Auxiliary of Robert Wood Johnson Hamilton announced they raised $14,000 to help complete the construction of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton's pediatric emergency center.
The donation, presented on Feb. 16, came as part of a pledge The Auxiliary - a volunteer group formed in 1954 - took to raise $150,000 for the H.H. Tuchman Pediatric Emergency Center Capital Campaign, the hospital said in an announcement.
The Auxiliary took the pledge to contribute to the campaign in 2011. The campaign was established to complete the pediatric emergency center, named in memory of the late Herbert Hugh Tuchman - brother of RWJ Hamilton board member Martin Tuchman.
An RWJ Hamilton spokeswoman said the $14,000 donation brings The Auxiliary up to $128,000. The group hopes to raise the full $150,000 by the end of 2016.
"The Auxiliary of RWJ Hamilton was founded with a mission of improving the quality of healthcare provided to the hospital's patients and the community through advocacy, fundraising and service," RWJ Hamilton announcement stated.
The announcement said donations are raised annually through fundraisers such as book sales, flower sales and the group's yearly Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Last year, the group raised $21,000 toward the $150,000 pledge.
