Princeton police were seeking to solve two car burglaries, and solved 14 in all with an arrest Sunday on Brickhouse Road.
PRINCETON -- A report of a suspicious male sitting in a parked car led police to solving 12 car burglaries they didn't know about, Princeton police said.
Officers were called to the Brickhouse Road neighborhood at about 8:15 a.m. Sunday morning to investigate a report of a suspicious male in a parked vehicle.
When officers arrived, they found the vehicle, but nobody inside, police said.
Officers located Jonathan DeHart, 24, in the area and arrested him on marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia charges following a brief interview, police said.
After being booked at police headquarters and given a court date, detectives asked DeHart about recent car burglaries in the same neighborhood, police said.
During an interview with a detective, DeHart implicated himself in two recent vehicle burglaries that were reported to police.
Then, DeHart implicated himself in 12 additional vehicle burglaries in town that had yet to be reported to the department, police said.
DeHart was additionally charged with multiple counts of burglary and theft, and initially held on a $15,000 bail, which he posted a short time later and was released from police custody.
Princeton police ask that if anyone in the Prineceton area had their vehicle broken into or entered in the past few weeks to contact Detective Sgt. Chris Quaste at 609-921-2100 ext. 2120.
