A criminal complaint says the man sent or received nearly 1,600 images of child pornography from 2014 through this year.

TRENTON -- A Mercer County school bus driver has been charged with distributing hundreds of files of child pornography, according to a federal criminal complaint.

Christopher Walsh, 31, of the Yardville section of Hamilton, was arrested Thursday evening and charged with three counts of distributing pictures or video files of child sexual abuse, said a statement from the office of U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.

Walsh made his initial appearance today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Douglas E. Arpert in Trenton federal court.

According to the complaint, Walsh sent videos of child pornography to another person on Aug. 5, 2015, saying one showed a child he had met on a school trip and the other was one Walsh created.

Each of the three counts of distributing child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison up to a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Fishman credited special agents of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security with the investigation leading to the charges.
