The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene just west of the Hamilton station Sunday night
HAMILTON — A man was struck and killed by an NJ Transit train near the Hamilton station Sunday night, according to officials.
NJ Transit spokeswoman Jennifer Nelson said the unidentified 18-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after being hit on tracks just west of the station around 8:20 p.m.
The train was heading west on its way from the transit agency's maintenance facility at the Meadowlands to a yard in Morrisville, Pa. No passengers were on board, and three crew members were unharmed during the collision, according to Nelson.
No service interruptions were reported for NJ Transit as a result of the incident, though Amtrak reported significant delays for passengers traveling between New York and Philadelphia.
