Robert Russell, 48, was charged with robbery after he was found on Daymond Street some time after he left the deli, located on the 500 block of Lamberton Street, Lt. Stephen Varn said.

Russell walked into the deli, took items from the shelves, put them in his pockets and tried to leave the store, Varn sid.

The 58-year-old store owner tried to stop him. Russell was seen on surveillance video choking and pushing the man before leaving the store, Varn said.

While watching the video of the robbery, officer Waldermar Garcia recognized Russel and had an idea where to find him. Garcia's hunch proved true, and Russell was found on Daymond Street, Varn said.

Russell's bail was set at $100,000, according to police records.
