The Feb. 19 fire tore through building 39 at the complex killing 72-year-old Irene Thorn Avillion.
FLORENCE -- The origin of the flames that killed a woman at the Florence Tollgate Apartments last weekend has been found, the Florence Fire Department said Thursday.
In a statement, the department was not specific about the origin, but said "multiple credible ignition sources" have been identified.
"We are currently awaiting the opinions of various experts involved in the investigation," the statement said.
Fire tore through building 39 at the complex last Friday night, Feb. 19, killing 72-year-old Irene Thorn Avillion.
Six people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Avillion was found Saturday morning in her second-floor condo.
Her niece Lisa Reed told 6ABC that her aunt was an animal lover and a kind-hearted person.
Firefighters got the flames under control in about two hours, but were on the scene until Saturday.
