Police make arrests in shootings that injured 2

The joint Shooting Response Team has charged two men with shootings this month and in November.

TRENTON -- Two city men have been charged with separate shootings in Trenton what wounded two men, the police department said.

Both arrests occurred Friday and both suspects are previously convicted felons, records show.

David McClure, 25, is charged with aggravated assault and weapon possession charges for allegedly shooting a man in the 400 block of North Clinton Avenue earlier this month, police spokesman Lt. Stephen Varn said.

Police found the victim, a 27-year-old man, wounded on Princeton Avenue not long after the crime.

Detectives from the city's joint Shooting Response Team later charged McClure with the shooting and the U.S. Marshal's Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended McClure Friday morning on Genesee Street in the city's South Ward, Varn said

McClure spent two separate terms in the state prison system from 2013 to 2015 for drug dealing and eluding police, records show.

Also Friday morning, the city's Violent Crimes Unit/Warrant Squad apprehended Delwis Correa, 26, in the 2000 block of South Clinton Avenue in connection with a shooting on Lamberton Street in South Trenton in November, Varn said.

Correa, also charged with aggravated assault and weapons charges, allegedly shot a male in the back on Nov. 27 in the 500 block of Lamberton Street, Varn said.

The Shooting Response Team also investigated the Lamberton crime and charged Correa, Varn said.

Correa has two prior felony assault convictions, state records show.
