LAWRENCE -- A professor from the University of Kufa in Najaf, Iraq will speak at Rider University's Global Symposium to mark International Day later this month.
Dr. Abdulhussein Kadhim Reishaan will present a talk titled "We are not ISIS: Peace-Making Through Student Dialogue Between the U.S. and Iraq" on Feb 25, the university announced.
Reishaan is an assistant professor of English language and linguistics, and a co-director of the International Cultural Center, at the University of Kufa.
He's also been officiating the Iraqi side of the Student Global Village at Rider for the past seven years.
The symposium is being hosted by Rider's Center for International Education (CIE).
Also speaking will be Rider political science professor Dr. Barbara Franz, who will present a talk titled "Refugees and Migrants in the European Union."
Franz focuses her research on mass migrations and refugee movements. She is author of the book Uprooted and Unwanted: Bosnian Refugees in Austria and the United States.
The symposium is the closing event to the International Day celebration, which honors diversity and world culture. The event is free, open to the public and will take place in Sweigart Auditorium. Pre-registration is not required.
