Seven people were displaced when fire damaged a three-story home on Columbus Avenue in Trenton.
TRENTON - Seven people were displaced from their home in Trenton Sunday morning after a fire sparked outside and spread inside the house, fire officials said.
Trenton Fire Battalion Chief Terrence Mulryne said the department was called to the 200 block of Columbus Avenue at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
Mulryne said when firefighters arrived there was heavy fire throughout the three-story home, where a family of seven was living.
He said it took two hours to get the fire under control.
The seven people living in the home were displaced and the American Red Cross is assisting them, Mulryne said.
He said officials determined the fire started outside and spread to the rear of the home. The cause of the fire was unknown Sunday and an investigation is ongoing.
Mulryne said firefighters used four fire engines, two ladders and a rescue company to put out the blaze.
