A bail hearing is set for two weeks from now in the case of Tasneem Diwan, a woman accused of bludgeoning her mother-in-law to death.

TRENTON - The first court date scheduled for a woman accused of bludgeoning her mother-in-law to death in East Windsor was rescheduled because she did not have a lawyer.

A bail hearing was scheduled Thursday morning for Tasneem Diwan, a 47-year-old woman accused of bludgeoning her mother-in-law to death in the home they shared on Mozart Court last week.

But on Thursday the hearing was moved back two weeks because of Diwan's lack of an attorney.

Diwan was arrested a few days after police found the body of her mother-in-law, Safia Diwan, bludgeoned to death in their Mozart Court home on Jan. 26. Authorities spent days searching for Tasneem Diwan and were finally able to arrest her after she was spotted in the bus terminal of an Atlantic City Casino.

She was taken back to Mercer County and charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon Saturday morning.

Bail was set at $1 million during the time of her arrest.
