The woman went willingly to a house where she was assaulted Friday, police said.
PRINCETON -- An assault on a quiet Princeton street followed by a woman escaping from a vacant home caused a stir recently - but it may not have been the full story.
Around 9:45 p.m. Friday police began investigating an assault at 20 Green St., a vacant home near downtown Princeton.
Initial reports said a 48-year-old woman had been assaulted on Witherspoon Street, dragged to the house and further assaulted before she escaped from a window.
But, after nearly a week of investigation and one arrest, police say they believe the woman went willingly to the house.
The woman and the man who is accused of assaulting her, Arnoldo Agreda-Rodriguez, 43, of Princeton, knew each other, police said.
They went to the house together Friday night and entered through an unlocked door, Princeton Police Sgt. Jonathan Buccheri said.
Once inside, Agreda-Rodriguez did allegedly threaten and assault the woman before she was able to escape through a first story window, Buccheri said.
He added that Agreda-Rodriguez did not use a weapon in the assault and that he did not know the nature of the threats.
Buccheri said not every detail of the assault had come out during the beginning of the investigation.
The woman has been released from the hospital, where she was being treated with multiple injuries Friday night.
Agreda-Rodriguez was arrested Monday at his home on Green Street, just a few doors down from the vacant house, and charged with making terroristic threats and simple assault.
