Marcus Payton, 24, broke into a 50-year-old woman's house and sexually assaulted her, police said.
TRENTON - A Trenton man was arrested Wednesday and charged with eight counts of aggravated sexual assault stemming from an incident in November, police said.
Marcus Payton, 24, was arrested by the Warrant Unit on the 700 block of Beatty Street after a short chase, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
Warrants were issued for Payton's arrest after an investigation linked him to a break-in and sexual assault of a 50-year-old woman on Nov. 20, Varn said.
Payton broke into the woman's home on the 600 block of Beatty Street around 6:30 a.m. and assaulted her, Varn said. He was not more specific.
An investigation led to warrants for Payton with four counts of aggravated sexual assault and four counts of aggravated sexual assault with a weapon. Payton also was charged with weapons offenses and burglary in connection with the Novemer incident, Varn said.
Payton was also charged with resisting arrest, hindering, obstruction and minor marijuana possession in connection with his arrest Wednesday, Varn said.
Payton's cash bail was set at $500,000, according to police records.
