TRENTON - About 200 cars were towed in Trenton to make way for plows during the weekend snowstorm that dropped up to 2 feet of snow in the capital city, police said.
The Police Department after 7 a.m. Monday was brimming with residents looking for police reports and instruction on how to get their cars back, police said.
Some cars were towed because they were blocking snow routes. Others were abandoned, broken down or stuck in the snow, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
The cost to get a car back after it's towed averages more than $100, depending on how long it stays impounded, Varn said.
Police on Thursday warned that cars left on certain roads would be towed at the owner's expense. Trenton school parking lots were opened for people who needed to move their cars.
Trenton spokesman Michael Walker said city Public Works crews and state contractors are continuing to remove snow from main and secondary roads.
