TRENTON - A Trenton man was shot during a robbery Sunday night in the North Ward, police said.
A 42-year-old man and a woman left a local bar shortly after 6 p.m. and were walking on the 300 block of Centre Street when they were approached by two men wearing masks, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
"Give it up,'' one of the men said, according to Varn.
The woman ran. The man refused to give the robbers anything, Varn said.
One of the robbers pulled out a knife and tried to stab the man twice, but failed. The other robber pulled a gun and shot the man once in the right arm, Varn said.
After a short struggle, the robbers were able to steal some money from the man and they ran, Varn said.
The man was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, where he was treated for his injuries and released, Varn said.
The Shooting Response Team is investigating, Varn said.
