Trenton woman shot during domestic dispute early Sunday

A 20-year-old Trenton woman was shot in the back early Sunday morning in a house on the 700 block of Riverside Avenue.

TRENTON - A 20-year-old Trenton woman was shot in the back during a dispute inside a home in 700 block of Riverside Avenue early Sunday, Trenton police said.

Officers were dispatched to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton at 3 a.m. Sunday on report that a woman was being treated for a gunshot wound.

The officers found the woman was shot during a domestic dispute, Trenton police Spokesman Lt. Stephen Varn said.

The woman was treated for her injuries and released, Varn said.

Varn said the 20-year-old woman told officers there were four people arguing in the Riverside Avenue home when one person pulled out a handgun and shot her in the back.

Varn said detectives were still investigating the incident Sunday and he declined to make public the other people involved in the incident.

The city's joint Shooting Response Team is investigating.
