Firefighters responded to the 900 block of the street around 7 p.m. and had the fire under control within an hour. Smoke was still coming from the second floor front windows around 7:30 p.m.

People were inside the house but got out before firefighters arrived, according to the fire department. No one was injured.

The fire started in a second floor attic and fire marshals were still investigating the cause Friday night, according to the fire department.

Neighbor Liam Quirk, who first reported the fire said he was walking down Lamberton Street Friday evening when he saw smoke coming out the front windows of the house. He went around the back of the house and saw more smoke coming outside.

That's when he went to the front door and started knocking, Quirk said. He added that he told the people inside to get out of the house and called 911.

The house and an attached structure were uninhabitable after the blaze, according to firefighters.

This story has been updated with comments from the fire department.
