TN-Tertainment Disc Jockeys is hosting DJ Stevie B concert on Feb. 6 at Cedar Gardens in Hamilton to benefit nonprofit City of Angels.
HAMILTON -- DJ John Rossi will be hosting his second concert in Hamilton this year where a portion of proceeds will be donated to City of Angels.
TN-Tertainment Disc Jockeys is hosting a pre-Super Bowl party on Feb. 6 with DJ Stevie B - "The King of Freestyle" - at Cedar Gardens in Hamilton.
"Stevie B was one of the biggest singers of the '80s," Rossi told City of Angels founders Kevin and Maryann Meara when he helped present a $10,000 check in October from his first concert to them.
"A one-night event and a $10,000 check is something we've never witnessed," Kevin Meara said.
Kevin Meara broke down in tears when Rossi told him the Stevie B concert would also benefit City of Angels.
The Mearas started Hamilton-based nonprofit that helps people with substance abuse after their son KC Meara died of a heroin overdose in 2008.
Rossi, of TN-Tertainment, is a friend of Hamilton resident David Gold - DJ Davey Gold - who died of a fentanyl-laced heroin overdose in June at the age of 45.
Rossi and Gold's family raised the $10,000 for Hamilton nonprofit City of Angels at a DJ fundraiser in October in honor of Gold, who started his disc-jockeying career at 16 in Trenton.
Gold eventually got involved with prominent music companies in New York City and sold more than 3,000 albums before he died.
"Davey and I go way back," Rossi said. "He was a great guy, always happy, always funny. He taught me a lot as a DJ."
Rossi and the Golds had pledged to the Mearas that the first $10,000 check to City of Angels would not be the last.
"David said he wanted to have these DJ benefits for City of Angels," Gold's girlfriend Christiana Cortes said in October. "And with more time and money, he would have."
The Steve B "Spring Love Tour" concert will start at 8:30 p.m. at Cedar Gardens. Tickets are selling for $35 on Eventbrite or $40 at the door.
